Of course one of the first things you need is the boxes and these can be bought in many different sizes based on different items. Look for boxes that are double walled, this makes them stronger and so keeps your belongings safer, it also allows you to stack them while awaiting the move and so saves space. Along with the standard boxes you can also buy boxes that able to take your TV, computer and wine bottles plus many more specialist sizes.
Of course you will need something to pack the boxes with; again you have a huge choice of packing materials for inside the boxes if you buy online. You will need bubble wrap of course and as tempting as it is to pop the bubbles, remember these protect your belongings so wait to pop until after move. You are able to wrap your delicate items first in protective tissue paper and then in bubble wrap. Look for tissue paper that is acid free and this will ensure that your belongings do not get marked which means you can use it on such as silverware.
We all have items that are very awkward to wrap and this is where handy wrap on a roller comes in very handy. This material will stick to itself without leaving a residue on even the most delicate of your belongings while at the same time making it extremely easy to protect them. Once you have wrapped them in handy wrap you could then secure them in wrapping paper which is a great alternative to newspaper and is far less messy as there is no print.
You will also need to look at protective covers for such items as sofa, armchairs and mattresses. These protective covers are made from heavy duty polythene and will protect your furniture from damage, dust and dirt.
When looking for packing materials do not forget the tape. You are able to buy a wide range of different tapes for securing different items. Multi-purpose strong packing tape is ideal for securing your boxes while heavier and bulkier items might need gaffer tape. To make the job of taping the boxes a lot easier you should buy a tape gun as this saves an enormous amount of time looking for the lost end of the tape.
